I can’t get over the beautiful swells of “Angel in Paris” which just makes the audience sway from side to side. You can hear a pin drop on the quietest sections of the music being performed. Whether or not the keyboardist was ever a major player in the actual jazz-rock movement (his loosely organized outfit did, after all, include a young Kenny G, so you be the judge), Lorber’s earliest recordings from 1977-81, made under the fusion rubric. He is one of those musicians who rubs shoulders with other prolific artists such as the world class saxophonist Kenny G. It was a good career move for Jeff Lorber to revive the Fusion brand name in 2010 after having ditched it nearly three decades earlier.
Lorber began the piano when her was four and went through the rite of passage of playing in many R&B bands in his teens almost giving himself that humble backing to go on to enrol at Berkless College of Music. He is such a widely recognised smooth jazz pioneer, with his song featured on The Weather Channel’s “Local On The 8s” segments. Word on the streets is that Jeff Lorber the Grammy nominated piano virtuoso is going out on tour to perform some of the biggest works he has ever composed.
